US stocks to open lower, Fed and BoJ eyed

Tracking weakness in global equity markets, the US equity indices are set for a lackluster opening on the first day of a fresh trading week.

Futures of all the three major indices, Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq, are trading with some minor loss of around 0.2%.

Ahead of the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan monetary policy meeting, traders seem to retreat to the side-lines. The Federal Reserve will announce its latest monetary policy decision on Wednesday and is widely expected to keep its monetary policy stance unchanged. Investors, however, will closely scrutinize the accompanying monetary policy statement in order to determine the future path of interest rate-hike cycle. Meanwhile, BoJ, which is scheduled to announce its monetary policy decision on Thursday, is expected to announce additional monetary easing measures.
